1. Usernames and passwords

A username and a password are chosen by those who register – this feature were introduced in 2024, and people selected them when they registered.  This year, they will be selected starting from Monday 28 July (two weeks before Maths Week starts) for those who register before this day;  those who register after 28 July will select their username and password when they register.  Those who have registered prior to 28 July will be sent an email reminding them to select their username and password on the day.  This day is the same day as when teachers can start accessing the teacher and student versions of the worksheet files.

2. A way to promote Maths Week event

This event was introduced last year for teachers, but has now been extended to include students.  Details can be found on the home page of the Maths Week website.  Teachers are encouraged to bring this to the attention of students.

3. Parts for Set A worksheets

The set A Daily Dollar and Survivor Series worksheets now have a Part 1 and a Part 2.  Part 1 questions are designed for students in Years 0 and 1, and Part 2 questions are designed for students in Year 2.  Teachers can use the parts flexibly.

4. Reference to days by number and not name

The Daily Dollar and Survivor Series worksheets, and the Maths Chaser and Power of 2 (formerly Maths Millionaire) quizzes, are longer using day names – they are now being referred to as Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4 and Day 5.  This means that teachers can use any of this material without reference to a specific day.  Day 1 material will be available for students on the Maths Week website on Monday (and the rest of Maths Week), Day 2 material will be available on Tuesday (and the rest of Maths Week), and so on.

5. Maths Chaser/Whai Pāngarau! Google slides

Google slides versions of the Maths Chaser files will be available as well as the hard copy and PowerPoint versions.  The hard copy and PowerPoint files can be obtained from the For Teachers section of the Maths Week website, which also gives a link to the Google slides files.

6. Maths Millionaire/Kaipāngarau Whai Rawa change of name

The Maths Millionaire quizzes will now be called Power of 2/Mana o 2.  Teachers may like to ask students if they can see the significance of the name (the amounts of money associated with the questions are successive powers of 2).

7. Basket of Maths/Te Kete o Pāngarau change of name and number of worksheets

This series will now be called Maths Extra!/Pāngarau taapiri!, and will now have only one worksheet (there have been five in previous years).

8. Maths Week survey summary

When the results of the survey that is conducted at the end of Maths Week have been collated, a summary of the results is prepared.  In previous years, this was emailed to all those who registered for Maths Week, but as from 2025 it will be available on the Maths Week website.  An email will be sent to those who registered to let them know this.
